Prepare for replacement:

Before you begin the replacement process, you should have an idea about the condition of the existing sink and faucet. You should first check how many pre existing holes your sink has. While you can install a two-holed faucet in a sink with three holes, the reverse is not possible.

You should first prepare yourself for the task in hand. It is best to wear a safety glass to protect your eyes. In case of any electrical points near the sink, turn it off before you begin the work.

Turn off water:

Switch off the water supply by turning the valve in a clockwise direction. If there is no separate valve for the sink, you should turn off the water supply to the entire house. You can use a pair of pliers to make your task easy. Once the water supply is turned off, you should open the faucet handle to let go of any pressure in the line.

Disconnect the supply line of water:

Once done, you should remove the old faucet. For this you should disconnect the supply line from the faucet. Use a wrench to remove the nut on each line. While removing, you should stabilise the water pipe to prevent compromising the connection.

Remove the faucet:

The faucet will be fixed to the cabinet using some mounting hardware. You should first remove this mounting hardware to remove the faucet. If the mouting hardware is rusted, you can use penetrating oil to loosen it. Once the mounting hardware is loosened and removed, you can easily pull out the faucet from top.

Install the new faucet:

Place the rubber gasket over the hole and set the deck plate. Now, push the faucet line through the hole. Apply sealant and position the faucet. Now fix the nut and washer underneath the sink.

Connect supply:

You should now proceed to connect the hose to the supply line. You can use plumbers tape, if needed. Turn on the water supply slowly and check for leaks. If needed, you can tighten the connection. Apply sealant wherever required.

Installing a kitchen faucet is not a hard task as long as you know the basics of plumbing. One thing you should consider is the number of preexisting holes in the sink. If you already have two holes in the deck and want to install a faucet with three holes, you should drill an additional hole. The reverse is pretty easy as you already have the required number of holes.
